Faced with a storage shortage, the owner of this rental beach property needed a solution to maximize space. Splinter found some creative ways to repurpose the dead space under the stairs, turning a barely functional coat closet with a slanted ceiling into a wall of enormous drawers.

To make the space work as storage, we created channels in the floor to support the weight of the big bottom drawer as it rolls out. To accommodate the ceiling slant, we built shelving into a top compartment that lifts up and stays in place. Two middle drawers each provide another 4 feet of storage. We even added charging receptacles inside to provide some unexpected utility.
